Hakka Fangkou Lion Art Display
Da’an District, Taipei City
This installation isn’t just an art piece; it’s a commitment to inspiring environmental awareness in the community. In partnership with the Changlong neighborhood, this project transformed a simple community bulletin board into Taiwan’s first Hakka art video wall using certified ocean waste materials.

Repurposing Community Spaces
The new display serves a dual purpose: it continues to function as an information board while offering an innovative, eco-friendly art experience. Incorporating recycled materials into the vibrant Hakka floral patterns and the "Fangkou Lion" motif, the installation honors cultural heritage while promoting sustainability. This unique approach maximizes limited resources to enrich the community’s urban space, merging functionality with artistic design.

Overcoming Design and Budget Constraints
With a limited budget, our team worked hard to convert an ordinary board into a cultural centerpiece. Careful planning and material selection were key to balancing aesthetics and durability. After nearly six months of discussion, structural adjustments, and extensive testing, we achieved the perfect balance for a vibrant, functional display.
Our team also researched suitable materials and experimented with various paint types to bring out vivid colors that represent Hakka culture. This attention to detail, from structural planning to hands-on tests, ensured that the final piece met all expectations.

A Lasting Impact
This installation is a blend of tradition and environmental responsibility. It represents a collaboration between cultural art and sustainability, creating an engaging educational experience for the community. By merging heritage with eco-consciousness, we hope to inspire future generations to embrace both their cultural roots and environmental responsibility, building a brighter and greener future together.
