Project FilBetter in Taiwan
"Don’t Smoke, Dispose Properly.
Filter for the Earth, Recycle Responsibly."
From Waste to Waste: Recycling for the Environment.

FilBetter Project : Towards a Greener Future
Taiwan ranks among the top nations in resource recycling. However, awareness that cigarette filters are also plastic still needs broader outreach. Littered filters not only harm the land environment and public sanitation but are also one of the major pollutants of marine ecosystems.

We’re honored to contribute to the FilBetter Project, an environmental harm-reduction initiative. Born from a commitment to address known environmental issues without creating new pollutants, the project aims to "use waste to serve waste." This journey began with a focus on the connection between cigarette filters and the ocean, examining ways to repurpose filters with minimal composite materials to embody a cradle-to-cradle philosophy. Our designs avoid traditional screws or adhesives, instead using interlocking joints, ensuring every aspect considers waste and recyclability.
In the first phase, we selected ocean waste-recycled panels to create our filter collection boxes. The primary reason is that cigarette butts are among the top three pollutants in global ocean debris. Through this material choice, we aim to help users understand how each contribution helps intercept cigarette filters before they reach the ocean, effectively reducing marine waste. Our solution is safe, convenient, and designed for sustainable circular recycling.

FilBetter : Creating a New Green
In our urban spaces, the presence of greenery—even in small parks—serves as a city’s green oasis. FilBetter envisions a new green we call "FilGreen." The cleanliness of drainage grates and alley corners reflects a nation's urban progress. For FilBetter, each detail embodies the spirit of "self-discipline in filter disposal."
We support a smoke-free future, aspiring for a day when filters are obsolete. Until then, we are dedicated to recycling filters and ocean waste into reusable filter boxes, partnering with communities to foster a closed-loop recycling system that creates a sustainable impact.
"Don’t smoke, or dispose properly. Exercise self-discipline with filters; recycle one filter at a time."
